"How do you wrap your hair to straighten it?"
jensnaturalhairjourney:
I wait until my hair is 90 percent dry, then I use a rattail comb to comb/wrap sections of hair around my head starting with a deep part on the opposite side of where I usually part it.I secure the wrapped pieces with duck bill clips. After I wrap my hair up completely and have it clipped, I smooth out the wrap with the comb until it’s even on all sides. So pretty much, I...
Dreadlock care we all seem to agree about
dreadingmylocks:
There are a million theories about the best way to take care of dreads.
I’m actually kind of frustrated with all the opinion and wish there was some proof that one way is better than the other. I guess like so much in life, we all just need to figure out what works for us individually.
At any rate, I’ve noticed that there seem to be a few dreadlock care tips that nearly...

Heat-free Curls/Waves →
Anonymous asked: Any tips on hairstyles to sleep with? You know, to prevent split ends/breakage. I usually sleep with a high, loose ponytail just to keep my hair out of my shoulders/back to prevent breakage, but i want something new.. Thanksss
Anonymous asked: can you post some homemade hair masks?
makeyourselfproudtoday asked: I think all home dye-kits contain harsh and toxic chemicals. Even colored henna contains some peroxide and harsh metal compounds found in regular dyes. I've really been battling to find a natural way to dye my hair because completely natural henna & indigo kits are difficult to obtain. I wanted to recommend using coconut, flax & olive oil as a mask. Amla oil is also great and works...

Heatless T-Shirt Curls
lovliestlocks:
My favorite way to get bouncy curls without using any heat products!
Get an old T-Shirt you dont mind cutting up
Cut the T-Shirt into long 1-2 inch strips
Depending on how thick you want your curls layer your T-shirt strands and roll them together.
Take sections of your hair and spray a little hairspray on it
Then roll up your hair in the T-Shirt strands as you would hair...
sylvia-scarlett asked: In regards to your post about SLS: SLS stands for Sodium Laurel/Laureth Sulfate, a foaming agent that's added to many shampoos, soaps, and even toothpastes to make them more bubbly/frothy. It's technically an industrial-strength foaming agent so it can be really harsh, and many people [like myself] have skin reactions to it. SLS-free soaps/shampoos/toothpastes may not be as foamy as...

Sock Curls
shhhea:
I tried this sock curl tutorial last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FV-YO46E8Y and here’s how it went! Straight straight straight
You’ll need a spray bottle of water, a hair elastic, and a sock (cut the toe end off and roll into a donut shape).
Put your hair into a high ponytail on top of your head. It looks stupid but whatever. Then spray it with water until damp.
Start...
