DIY: Hair Masks

eye-laugh-view:

Hey gorgeous girls (and guys…lol)! I’m starting a new mini blog series called DIY (do it yourself). Basically, these posts are to inspire you guys to make some of your own fun beauty products! Plus, you get to save money too!

These are some of my favorite hair mask recipes. I have tried all three of them. They all give you different results.

1. Yogurt Hair Mask

For damaged hair.

  • 1 egg white
  • 1/4 plain, organic yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayo

P.S. I gotta admit, reading these ingredients felt gross to me too. But trust me, it’s worth the smell for the results!

Directions:

  1. Beat the egg white until it’s a pure liquid.
  2. Mix the egg white, yogurt, and mayo.
  3. Massage the mixture into wet hair, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Make sure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Leave it in for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse it out with shampoo, then conditioner.
  6. Rinse your hair with cold water.

P.S. While your waiting the very long 30 minutes, you might want to cover your hair with a towel, plastic bag, or shower cap. Otherwise the mixture will drip all over you… ew!

2. Banana Avocado Hair Mask

To get shine/luster.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 3 tablespoons of buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

  1. Mash the banana, egg, and avocado together in a bowl.
  2. Stir in the other ingredients.
  3. Massage the mixture into wet hair, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Make sure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Leave it in for 30 minutes.
  5. Rinse it out with a moisturizing shampoo, then conditioner.

P.S. If you have long hair, you can double the ingredients.

3. Fruit Smoothie Hair Mask

For dry hair.

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1/4 cantaloupe
  • 1 tablespoon of wheat germ oil
  • 1 tablespoon of yogurt
  • 1 vitamin E capsule (optional)

Directions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. For extra conditioning, you can ad in the vitamin E capsule.
  3. Massage the mixture into wet hair, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Make sure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Leave it in for 15 minutes.
  5. Rinse it out with shampoo, then conditioner.

All of these hair masks give me amazing results! I have tried countless amount of hair masks, and to be honest… some of them don’t even make a difference! But these are my absolute top 3! I always make it a point to take some time out of my schedule to treat my hair to a hair mask once a week. If you do it regularly, you’ll see how it really pays off. And it doesn’t really take that long anyway… I can always plan out my outfit for the next day while I wait ;)

So tell me… are you going to try a hair mask?
