So I’m trying a new experiment.
I made my own recipe for deep conditioning and I added certain ingredients to my clarifying conditioner to really let my hair shine. I also tried apple cider vinegar as my final rinse as well. Since Wen is a bust, I’m trying new ways to achieve shine without the cones. I can’t deal with cones…I tried. They make my hair feel drier and it frizzes more. So anyway, to the recipes!
Jen’s amazing Deep Conditioner:
2 heaping tsp of greek yogurt [softens and strengthens hair]
3 - 4 heaping tsp of mayonaise [has protein, fat, and moisturizes hair]
5 tsp of honey [cleanses hair, softens, moisturizes, adds shine, brings out natural highlights]
2-5 biotin capsules, depending on size [*apparently makes hair thicker and shinier]
10 - 12 drops of peppermint extract [adds shine, stimulates scalp, gives moisture]
Add all ingredients in that order and mix together until it is smooth and almost frothy. Wet hair with luke warm water thoroughly for 1 to 2 minutes and towel dry. Massage the mix into your hair until the cup is empty. cover with a plastic bag or plastic rap and then cover your had with a towel. Wait an hour, and then rinse the mix out completely with COLD water, or it will cook. C/O right after and AVC.
Jen’s Super Awesome Enhanced Clarifying Conditioner:
2 green tea bags [stimulates hair growth, strengthens, moisturizes, add shine, brings out natural high lights]
8 - 10 drops Orange extract [cleanses hair, nourishes, moisturizes, brings out natural high lights]
8 - 10 drops peppermint extract [stimulates scalp, adds shine, gives moisture]
3 - 5 biotin capsules [*apparently makes hair thicker and shinier]
2 heaping tsp of crushed sage [enhance natural hair color *brunettes* and adds shine]
3 drops of jojoba oil [moisturizes hair, softens, adds shine]
Soak teabags in a half a cup of hot water for 15 to 30 minutes. Make sure the color is rich in the tea before adding the rest of the ingredients in order. Stir everything together and pour into a container. Shake the container very fast until everything is distributed evenly. Take a cheap cone free conditioner like VO5 Kiwi and squeeze out enough conditioner to make room for the mix; not too much, just enough to shake it evenly. Add the mix into the conditioner bottle and shake vigorously until the mix is consistant within the conditioner. Use this enhanced conditioner as your “cleanse” when doing C/O.
ACV rinse:
Fill 1/10 of a cup with apple cider vinegar and the rest with filtered water. After C/O, distribute the ACV rinse throughout hair and massage it into your hair for a minute. Let it sit for another 2 minutes and then rinse out completely with cold water.
Apple Cider Vinegar thickens, adds shine, clarifies, and strengthens hair.
Anyway, today I did the deep conditioning, followed by rinsing it out thoroughly with cold water. Then, I did C/O with the enhanced conditioner on my scalp and length, and moisturizing conditioner on my length. I also added honey to the C/O. I massaged the conditioners in and let it sit for about 5 minutes, and then rinsed it out completely with cold water. After, I did the ACV and rinsed it out completely. Lastly, I rubbed a dime amount of coconut oil and moisturizing conditioner to the length of my hair and finger combed it through.
Rather than using a towel, I am using a T shirt. After my hair dried to 90%, I wrapped/doobied my hair and wrapped it back up in the T shirt. The T Shirt prevents frizz and is more gentle than the a towel. I’m going to sleep like this.
Although I don’t know the official results, my hair is already really shiny and soft. I noticed my natural highlights and I’m excited for the morning. As for my recipes, I made those up using what I learned from constant researching. I did not copy and paste them directly from another site. They are my own recipes. This is the first test drive.

Anyway, I’ll post a picture of the results tomorrow. I have high hopes for this one. This should make up for the Wen.
BTW, WHEN IT COMES TO THE INGREDIENTS, IF YOU DON’T HAVE ALL OF THEM OR DON’T LIKE SOME OF THEM, YOU CAN LEAVE A FEW OUT HERE AND THERE I’M SURE. FOR THE DEEP CONDITIONER YOU CAN PROBABLY USE REGULAR YOGURT INSTEAD OF GREEK YOGURT AND DEFINITELY USE SOME GOOD FATTY MAYO. HONEY IS DEBATABLE. ESSENTIAL OILS ARE GREAT BUT IF YOU DON’T HAVE THEM, THAT’S OKAY. DEFINITELY USE TEA BAGS THOUGH FOR ENHANCING YOUR CONDITIONER THOUGH.

Looking for a way to strengthen hair and stimulate growth naturally? Try using tea! Tea rinses are one way to keep hair healthy.
* One word of caution: Black tea rinses can darken hair a tad, so if you dye your hair light beware.
Thanks to sugarlumptea for these great Tea rinses ideas.
BLACK TEA RINSES
benefits: it strengthens the hair and stimulates growth. the tea also extends the life of each hair strand. (you could also do a coffee rinse, but black tea contains more caffeine so it will give you better results.)
the how:
1.) boil 1-2 regular sized black teabags as normal. (some people may use up to 10 tea bags. the choice is really up to you.)
2.) allow the tea to cool. (some people allow the tea to sit for about 6 hours or overnight.)
3.) shampoo your hair.
4.) pour the tea rinse through your hair. let it sit for about 20 minutes. (make sure to do the rinse BEFORE you apply your conditioner. this is so the tea does not dry your hair out.)
5.) apply your deep conditioner on top of the tea rinse and then rinse your hair as normal with water.
OTHER TEA RINSES (via justgrowalready)
here are some other tea rinses that you guys can try.
- chamomile rinse: brings out the natural highlights in your hair
- rosemary rinse: great for dark colored hair as it brings out the warmth, richness and depth for these tones. rosemary is also useful in preventing hair loss, stimulating the scalp and hair growth.
- nettle rinse: also stimulates the scalp and prevents dandruff.
- sage rinse: helps to reduce the buildup of oil on the scalp and promotes healthier hair.
Reblogged from sugarlumptea.
This is my hair after two months since I got my pixie cut :). I decided that for the next couple months I’ll be taking a picture at the beggining and the end of each month to show the progress of my hair growth! I want it to be long like it was in these pictures about two years ago :3
Me at the beach when my folks lived in Hawaii :D Sigh, why did they have to move!
Chilling at school with my cosplay buddy/bestest friend. :3 Jordan, I miss you :(
Anyway It’ll probably take two years, but My hair grows fast! Wish me luck!
hey trichotillomania, fuck you! i’m gonna grow this lovely new healthy hair long and there’s nothing you can do about it. i’m loving how all of this hair - especially my bangs - look, i feel so confident and cute and lovely. i am so proud of myself for getting a haircut and not getting too scared or anxious as i would’ve in the past! on another note, do you think a gold nose ring would look good on me, or should i stick to steel?
Hooray for you!
How many of you actually feel a Salon should give the option of Search and Destroy? Tidying up bangs is only 6 bucks, so I assume S&D would be cheap and effective without putting scissors to your own head. Feel free to reblog if you agree that Salons should offer Search and Destroy for those who want to keep their length/fairytale ends without damage.

Gonna blog my progress with Lee Stafford hair growth treatment as I’m unsure as to whether it’ll work or not. This is a picture after the 2nd time i’ve used it.
curious about this one!
That’s about a 10 month difference. I had one hair cut and I think like 2 microtrims in between. There was also winter slow down and summer speed up to account for.

New Hair cut
Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little to get what you need. My hair is now evened out, thinned a little, and is in a better position to transition into longer layers.

My hair is monstrous, my mom hates it, but I love it. It was just below my shoulders four years ago. I’m kind of curious how long I can get it. :D
